Sandoway House Nature Center Field Trip

Please join The Kids Ecology Corps and Nova University’s NATURE club for an educational and fun day of activities and exploration!

Who: A special experience for Kids ages 11-14  (older siblings welcome) to pair up with College students.

When: Saturday, February 12, 2005

Time: 10:00 am - 1:00pm

What: Groups of three will pair up with a Nova University NATURE Club student member for the day.  We will start out by meeting Crystal, the Blue and Gold Macaw in the activity room for the first animal encounter.  Join us at the Coral Reef Pool for an up close encounter feeding the sharks of the nature center.  Next we explore nature under the microscopes in the their laboratory.  Discover an endangered animal at the center and find out how "you can make a difference for wildlife and wild places."

We will break for Lunch and enjoy a short presentation by NATURE Club on the benefits of an eco-friendly picnic.  Then explore their landscape, including a small butterfly garden, sand dune and scrub habitat on the 0.5-acre lot.

 

Where: Sandoway House (www.sandowayhouse.com) 142 S. Ocean   Blvd. Delray Beach, FL 33483 (1.5 blocks south of Atlantic Avenue. on A1A).

Tel. (561) 274-7263  CARPOOLING AVAILABLE and recommended.  PARENTS please call for details about carpooling as we do not have enough space for all parents.  There will be one carpool site at Nova University, one at Boca or you can put together your own carpool (we can assist with names/ contacts)

SPOTS ARE  LIMITED.  You must  R.S.V.P. with Debra or Emily at debram@kidsecologycorps.org or by calling 954-524-0366 by Tuesday, February 8th.

Bring and Wear: Comfortable clothes, sunscreen, hat.  In keeping with caring for our environment, PLEASE remember to bring your own drinking cup (or water bottle), a small plate for lunch, and napkin or cloth if needed.

Cost: is free and being covered by NATURE Club who will cover the entrance fee and lunch: American cheese sandwiches, Doritos, grapes and ice water.
