			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The 49th-annual Christmas on Las Olas celebration will turn five blocks in Fort Lauderdale into a winter wonderland, complete with ice skating, snow, sledding, and some serious cookies battling it out.  Kids absolutely love the &#8220;ice&#8221; skating rink (yes, here in South Florida)!    From SE 6th Avenue to SE 11th Avenue.  Admission is free.</p>
<p>Tommy  Bahama will have an open house between 6 and 9 pm. Light refreshments &amp; free gift wrap while it lasts &#8211; arrive early!</p>
<p>The boulevard is closed to vehicle traffic.  School choirs give their all by singing popular holiday tunes and live bands or performers play on four different stages set up just for the occasion.  Visit Kids Ecology Corps and take a picture at the Santa booth.  Pick up your 12 Days of Green Holiday Tips.  Percentage of proceeds goes to benefit KEC programs.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Fort Lauderdale, FL &#8211; Saturday, November 19 will mark the City of Fort Lauderdale&#8217;s first annual Mangrove Awareness Day. Coming appropriately during the City&#8217;s Centennial year, the day is designed to call attention to the historic significance and ongoing importance of the mangrove in maintaining South Florida&#8217;s delicate ecosystem.</p>
<p>South Florida based Kids Ecology Corps, the non profit 501c(3) organization whose mission it is to inspire young people to take positive eco-action and make environmental stewardship a part of everyday life, will mark the event with mangrove plantings at the 9 AM opening of the Bill Keith Preserve, 3.4 acres of undeveloped property located along the north shore of the River at SW 17th Street and SW 18 Avenue, in the southwest Shady Banks neighborhood.</p>

<p>Visit the KEC Booth Saturday, March 12th from 9:00am until 3:00pm.</p>
<p>An important part of Broward County’s effort to educate residents about water conservation is Water Matters Day. This fun, activity-filled event focuses on teaching residents about the need to conserve and protect water for people, plants and animals. The event helps Broward residents make the connection between their daily activities and the impact they have on our local water resources and natural environment.</p>
