What started on the shores of Texas in 1986 and has now grown to be the world’s largest one day effort with over 100 countries coming out to clean our beaches??

It’s the 2005 INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEAN-UP on September 17th …….and Join us for the Clam Bake Festival later that day!!

In Florida alone we usually remove over 600,000 pounds of garbage from our shore and ocean.

What: Join The Kids Ecology Corps in making our waterways cleaner & safer.  Anyone can take part in removing the litter and debris that clutters our shores.  The Kids Ecology Corps will also give short educational talks about how litter endangers both marine life and humans.

Where: There are 14 sites that you can go to.  The Kids Ecology Corps will be signing up participants at the North Beach Park site in Hollywood.

When:  Saturday, 17 September morning   9 a.m. to noon

Directions: From I-95 exit at Sheridan and go east till you reach the beach.  (Support public transportation:  You can call Broward County Transit (954) 357-8400 for bus schedule and routes.)

You can participate in the clean-up, educate others or help out with registration as we are staffing this site.

If you would like to register for or learn where the other sites are see http://www.floridacoastalcleanup.org/.

Time: Anytime from 9 a.m. to noon.

Bring: Wear sunscreen, comfortable clothes, hats and gloves if you have them. The Ocean Conservancy and Coastal Cleanup sponsors provide trash bags and data cards.
