The Kids Ecology Corps supports Ocean Watch in their

16th Annual Reef Sweep & Beach Clean Up
 Saturday, June 12, 2004 from 9am - 12pm

A great family activity for all ages.  Already a South Florida tradition, local charter boats, private boaters and beach walkers will sweep our beaches and coral reefs clean from harmful garbage.  We are expecting over 700 beach lovers and coastal residents to pitch-in along Broward County.

The Kids Ecology Corps will be providing an educational component so volunteers can learn more about how they have helped to beautify and protect our coral reefs, marine life, economy and human health.

There are six sites throughout Broward County for beach walkers to easily take part in by just showing up and lending a hand.

Please join The Kids Ecology Corps at the North Beach Park site in Hollywood.

From I-95 exit at Sheridan and go east till you reach the beach.

If you want to help clean the air and avoid parking: J

- By bus: take bus route # 7 which runs along Pines Blvd out west (Hollywood Blvd out east).  Stay on the bus as it curves north along A1A and get off near Sheridan Street.

- By tri-rail: click here to find out the schedule and click on weekend www.tri-rail.com/schedules_fares/ntm_wday.htm  Get off at the Hollywood station (not Sheridan).  Then catch the bus # 7 going east.

If you would like to go to the other walking sites or diving sites for SCUBA divers and private charter boats going out to the reefs click here for more information http://www.oceanwatch.org/reefsweep.htm Click on above as well if you want to go to the Reef Sweep Party immediately after the cleanup 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm where awards will be given to the people who collect the most garbage, rope and monofilament. This lively party includes food, live entertainment, raffle and door prizes.  It is at Baja Fort Lauderdale at the Fort Lauderdale Las Olas Riverfront Complex.

*For further info. and possible carpool call Emily or Debra at 954-524-0366.*

** Also, if anyone can help out the week of June 7th in our Fort Lauderdale office, it would be greatly appreciated.  We need to have EVERTHING out for the new carpeting and will do some major reorganization at that time.

Thank you to those of you who joined us in planting almost 350 Pond Apple saplings, for helping out at the Jazz Brunch and for participating in other Earth Day festivals in March and April.

Hope to see you at the next event!!
